In 1932, Dr. G. Kume founded an architectural firm in Tokyo after studying and gaining practical experience in England and Germany, and started work on a number of prestigious projects. With the name of the founder and the addition of the word Sekkei (design), the company was named Kume Sekkei.
Throughout its 70-year history, Kume Sekkei has attained consistent growth, and has maintained its position as one of the nation’s leading architectural firms. For the last 10 years, it has been ranked among the top 11 to 13 architectural firms in the world.
In December 1998, the company earned ISO9001 (quality management) certification, followed by ISO14001 (environmental management) certification in March 1999. Kume Sekkei thus became the first architectural firm in Japan accredited for its company-wide integrated quality and environmental management system. |
